Calling all tech-geeks! The city will be buzzing with robots, PDAs and remote controlled go-carts as Milwaukee welcomes its first BarCampMilwaukee, an un-conference dedicated to learning, sharing and participation. Yes, an un-conference — a conference where the participants create and lead the content of the sessions instead of having a single organizer or group.
“We want to shine a bright light on the technology industry in Milwaukee,” says organizer Pete Prodoehl. “There are great opportunities in this city, it’s just a matter of making all the interesting people aware of each other.”
BarCamp occurs nationwide as an ad-hoc gathering fueled by people who want to learn and share in an open environment. Technology and creativity focused discussions, demos and interaction will form an intense 24+ hour event. BarCampMilwaukee is FREE, but there’s a catch. “Campers” must participate in some aspect of the event, whether it be leading a session, helping with a session, setting up before the event or cleaning up afterward. This powerful participation dynamic creates a unique, technology-focused gathering.
Campers will expand their minds, share their passions and have an unforgettable time. BarCampMilwaukee will take place at Bucketworks.
